Surface Notes
Something I am very confident of: there is no sweeter month than May.
The month embodies the grounding reminder that there is softness to be had in light of what may feel like a never-ending season of grit.
Winter bleeds away, reminding us that life can, and will, feel hopeful again.
It’s the month when at least four of my favorite people were born, and I have the pleasure of celebrating the joy their existences bring to those around them.
On the last day of May, only ten days from now, I’ll marry my high school sweetheart.
May has always been and will always be remembered, to me at least, as the very best time of year.

Through the Body
Tactile: Eyelashes on a silk pillowcase. Breeze on the back of your neck through an open window. The light weight of poplin cotton pajamas.
Taste: Elderflower and sweet lemon syrup. Fresh strawberries, the first of the season. Cold hibiscus tea on the season’s first warm day.
Scent: Rosemary lingering on fingertips. Lilacs heavy on the wind after a night of rain. Baking a butter-crusted tart on a late Sunday morning.
